Styling Your Wedding Cards

There are several styles that you can use if you choose to make your wedding cards for your own wedding. Most invitations make use of the panel cards or panel folders, but there are other styles that you can choose from.

A one-sided unfolded card is called a panel card. They are more simple than panel folders but can be displayed in several different ways that are equally beautiful. Furthermore, it is more cost-efficient because you can come up with 2 pieces off cards with every sheet of paper.

Panel cards have two styles that you can make use of: the stand-alone and the overlay. The standalone style prints directly on the panel and presented as it is. If a traditional script style font or calligraphy is used, the wedding cards will surely have that elegant and classy look.

The overlay style, on the other hand, makes use of the panel card plus a vellum overlay. The text is either placed on the vellum and tied to the card with a gold ribbon. It can also be that the card is used for printing then topped with the vellum.

For a more traditional effect, panel folders are normally used. The folders are folded in half to create the inside portion where the text is written. This is very much similar to conventional greeting cards that you see in bookstores. However, given a dose of creativity and imagination, panel folders can prove to be a good vehicle for producing unique wedding cards.

The outside printed style on panel folders is the most widely used technique. Usually, the printed text goes on the outside part, then additional pages or inserts are tucked inside.

On the opposite, printing inside the folder is another way of presenting the card. Wedding cards can be folded in such a way that the front will display the names of the couple. A quote or bible verse are sometimes written on the front flap, which leads to the inside text.

Recently, more and more creative ways are being employed in making wedding cards. Aside from the traditional two-fold cards, the tri-fold design is increasingly being used. There are instances that all the flaps are used to maximize the spaces available for writing.

Finally, it should be noted that the invitations can be customized and personalized in as much as the couple wants it to be. Regardless of the styles mentioned above, it is equally important to determine the size that will be used. The best way to start is finding out the available envelope sizes. That way, you can be sure how small or how big you can go. It is lousy to have an envelope that you can see a lot of empty spaces from the outside. And it is terrible to have an envelope that you can't close because the what's inside is bigger.
